Rockefeller Tree Lighting and Musical Concert Tonight at 7 on NBC

20121128-184207.jpg

I have yet to be there in person for the lighting, but I enjoy the show from home. This year’s tree is a homegrown Norway Spruce from Mt.Olive, NY. It was donated by a family, for free. It is 80 feet tall, 50 feet wide, and weighs 10 tons. Despite our tradition of cutting down a tree to put on display in the middle of the big city, we remain a little ecofriendly with approximately 45,000 energy efficient lights.

If you are ever in NY for the holidays, it’s worth stopping by to see. I have done this in the past and it never fails to amaze me how small I feel next to it. All the work it must take to decorate it is fascinating to me. It’s a majestic experience! I love the holidays in New York City. The decorations and traditions just really put me in the spirit.
