Dope Sick Love

Last night while I couldn’t sleep, I wandered onto HBO2 and found this amazing gem of a n HBO original documentary called Dope Sick Love. It follows two crack addicted couples as they deal with their relationship and the lows of being addicted to crack cocaine. I never seen such raw intensity as up close and personal as these cameras get. I’ve known an addict or two in my days, but this documentary allows you to get the close-up honesty and realness that you would otherwise only get to see if you were the addict him/herself. Combine that with a relationship and this “rock”-bottom only gets more rocky. Trust me, some parts will have you cringing with pity and disbelief, but it’s worth watching. It actually brings forth a little understanding to addicts by re-humanizing them, and just the right amount of fear to convince you to never let a drug become the bane and vein of your existence.
